A huge bonus to this pie is that as the ingredients are pretty much what you might have in the morning i.e. porridge oats topped with banana, nut butter and cacao nibs, you don’t need to feel guilty if you fancied eating it for breakfast!
Plus, the base is made from ground oats which give a really crumbly biscuit like texture when cooked (or for a raw recipe simply leave to set for a few hours in the fridge).

The use of the nutritional yeast (provides cheese flavour), beans, lemon, garlic and cashews makes this recipe a much more nutritional version of the classic but is still something you can get your teeth into, plus it’s vegan too!
Another bonus is that it can be made in under 20mins for a super quick meal.

I had this one for breakfast as I had some hummus to use up which makes a difference to my usual porridge breaky but it’s great for any time of the day.
The lemon, chilli and garlic hummus really gives flavour to this dish as the quinoa and green veg are quite plain.
This dish is also super easy to pull together meaning you’re not in the kitchen for ages but still get plenty of goodness into you, win!

These are great for a homemade valentine’s gift and they’re heart healthy too as very little heat is used therefore you get the max amount of antioxidants and phenolics from this chocolate and you add your own sweetener so you can control the sugar and purity.See my other post on the benefits of raw cacao

I used a silicone heart mould that you can easily get from amazon, this recipe fills the 15 hearts nicely but you can make more if you prefer your chocolates a little thinner

Lately I’ve come across many different people who claim that we should all eat a certain way and/or eliminate a particular food group from our diets (dairy, carbs, meat etc).
However, for every claim that there is something bad about a particular food & why we should avoid it, there is another that claims it is good for us!
So what’s going on? Here’s my view
Update July 2018: I’ve just finished reading “The diet myth” by Tim Spector which has further emphasised many of my points below but also gave me more insights into why we all respond differently to food. This has been one of the most interesting and helpful books I’ve ever read and I can’t recommend it enough.
If you are someone who often feels confused about the information on diets/foods then you should definitely give this book a read, you’ll be glad you did!
