Seaweed crisps with a healthier maryrose sauce

Move over kale there’s a new crisp in town…..seaweed! Trust me, it doesn’t taste like fish and you can flavour them with whatever you like, plus they cook superfast and contain lots of nutrition such as iodine (update: and B12), which can be hard for some people to get.

The sauce uses tomato puree & spices instead of the standard ketchup, so it remains super tasty but also that little bit better for you. Put this sauce on anything you like, I chose to try it with my new black bean noodles, salmon and peas, you could use any pasta & veg you like or simply keep it for the seaweed crisps.

Homemade “nutella” filled raw “oreos”

These are definitely a special occasion treat but also a great snack to bring to a party, especially if you’re trying to convert the people there toward eating cleaner, this shows them that natural, wholesome food doesn’t mean tasteless & can actually feel so naughty!
While making these I couldn’t wait to put my face in……. I mean, taste, the “nutella”.

High protein low carb omega cookie dough balls

This recipe was a happy accident resulting from me throwing a bunch of my favourite ingredients into a food processor and hoping for the best, luckily for me, they taste amazing, seriously, I’m not just saying that, I was really surprised by how good these tasted! The beans and nut butter make them creamy and the crunchy cacao nibs throughout give a cookie dough texture 💕

A major bonus is that they are the perfect pre/post workout snack and sooooo nutritious, there’s so much magnesium, fibre & protein in this recipe & is loaded with anti-inflammatory omega 3 fats due to the chia & hemp.

Upgraded ingredients

During my journey to eating better I have slowly moved from commonly processed ingredients/food to purer versions which I can honestly say I love just as much if not more (especially as I know they’re better for me). I’ve outlined a few of them below and why/how I use them.

Cacao- Upgrade to this from regular cocoa powder, you can also use cacao nibs in place of choc chips, plus they add some crunch to dishes too which is great on dishes such as granola. I love using cacao as it is much less refined than regular cocoa and doesn’t have any added nasties, there’s no dairy, sugar etc, and most brands haven’t been heated too much meaning that you’re getting much more of the beneficial compounds than the processed stuff. I’ve posted in more detail on the benefits of cacao before, it can be found here

Banana choc hazelnut sinless sundae + is 1/5 a day!

I just finished a HIIT workout today in very warm weather which I’m not use to here in Ireland and was really in need of something cooling, this did the trick, plus as it’s made from frozen bananas it counts as 1 of your 5 a day! Bonus!
Leave yourself approx 2 hours to freeze the bananas before you plan on eating this.
