My favourite products of 2016

I’m always looking for good, natural brands for both food products and skin care products. I usually have to try out a fair few before finding one that I like, so I’ve summarised some of the products that I’ve found in 2016 that I really enjoy using and give some pros & cons so that others can make informed decisions.

1- Bloom tea matcha (Mindpower flavour)
If you’re not aware of what matcha is, I’ve written a post about it before, see here.
I chose this flavour as I like ginger and was curious about the taste and I have to say this one is damn good! If you are a matcha drinker then you’ll know it’s not the best tasting drink out there so getting one with a little zingy flavour in it is a bonus. Plus they are organic and sourced from Japan.
You can purchase this tea on amazon, online or via Holland & Barrett.

Christmas spiced fruit & nut biscotti

These are so, soooooo good!

And even more fabulous when dipped into your fav cuppa tea!😁

The spices in this recipe make it more of a festive one and really complement the orange zest. I also chose to use dried cherries rather than cranberries as I prefer the flavour. Be careful when choosing your fruit as some dried cranberry brands that I’ve seen have more sugar than actual cranberries in them to cover their tart taste and try to avoid the heavily processed glace cherries too.

Cookie dough oatmeal

Once again I just started chucking what ingredients I had spare into my porridge and this beauty came out of it. I mean come on! It’s creamy, warm, thick and has a chocolatey crunch to it, what’s not to like!?
Plus it’s refined sugar free by using a really ripe banana for natural sweetness and cacao products for a choc hit.

Cookie dough oats, best way to start your day ever!!

I really recommend using the maca if you have it as it gives the dish a rich, malty, almost caramel like flavour to it and really complements the other ingredients.
I know the egg white might seem a bit strange but it helps to make it nice and thick and adds some good, lean protein in there, also a great option if you’ve just done a workout/heading off to the gym.

5minute burger bun- 1/5 a day & low carb!

I loved how this recipe turned out so much that I ate it so fast I nearly choked!
A great way to use up leftover cooked squash that doesn’t involve chucking it into a salad.
5minute burger bun- 1/5 a day & low carb! Dinner Grainfree Lunch

A paleo, grain free, low carb burger bun

As the bulk of the bun is made up of squash and coconut flour it’s much lower in carbs than the traditional version, although I do highly recommend pairing a good fat e.g. avocado or a sauce with the bun and burger as coconut flour (especially the de-fatted kind which I used) can be a little dry, but no less delicious!  (more…)
