This mix was so delicious, that I’m going to un-ashamedly admit that once I had used all of the mix up I licked the pot clean, there wasn’t a speck of the mixture left on it!
You really don’t need much sweetener either as the orange zest and almond butter give so much flavour, which makes these beauties fantastically tasty without containing loads of sugar, woohoo!
I got a new blender recently which is an absolute beast, I’m loving it and used it to make my own organic almond butter which I used in this recipe. I can’t wait to experiment with other nut butter combos/flavours and will share any good ones on here once created. 😁

I loved making this recipe as I’m always using chickpeas in various ways especially consuming it in a garlic hummus so I wanted to mix it up a bit hence this recipe with a difference! Haricot beans are the type used in the famous branded baked beans but you can get them plain and use them as you would chickpeas in a normal recipe.
Other beans should work too such as barlotti/canellini etc, beans are fantastic foods to add into your daily meals, they’re such good sources of protein, fibre, magnesium and folate (B vitamin).

The base on these mini pies is delicious! It’s a mix of dried fruit, nuts, seeds and pumpkin spice, very flavourful without being too rich.
The pumpkin I used for this turned out to have paler flesh than others so mine isn’t overly orange meaning they didn’t look too pretty but they taste pretty fricking good! Plus it’s a great way to use up extra pumpkin flesh once you’re done with your carving.
You can use bun cases to make separate small pies or just smoosh it all together in one big tin and then cut into slices

I used these loads during my training for the 5K zombie run. A great source of protein, fibre and a mix of good fats, especially if you use hemp protein as it has a good balance between omega 3 and 6 fats. Plus some tasty peanut butter and chocolatey goodness just for good measure!
Plus they’re sweetened with fresh banana rather than dates which I feel makes a nice change.

Green tea and matcha (whole leaf powder form) are popular drinks that have been used all over the world due to their high content of antioxidants and polyphenols. The 4 main polyphenols in green tea are epicatechin, epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG), epigallocatechin (EGC) and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). Now you can see why they’re abbreviated!!

Less sugar than a recipe with dates as the apricots and figs naturally contain lower levels. The great combo of the chocolate cacao*, roasted hazelnuts and vanilla powder really finishes this recipe off perfectly, I mean who doesn’t like a chocolate & hazelnut pairing!?
*I like to use raw cacao powder in recipes like this as it is not over heated therefore you are getting the max amount of beneficial compounds and antioxidants.
